The Big Island

The last time I visited the Big Island was nearly 20 years ago. On this return trip, I was fortunate to witness Kīlauea’s 32nd eruption in 2025. I’m also grateful that Unsplash selected my photo as one of the Top 20 images of September 2025.

Dynamo

Back in August, I traveled to Houston to photograph Shell Energy Stadium. It was my first time in Texas, and the weather completely caught me off guard. 100 degrees with rain in the middle of summer. It was probably the most I’ve ever sweated and I live in Las Vegas. Shooting in those conditions wasn’t easy, but the stormy skies ended up giving me some amazing cloud shots for the stadium. After I wrapped up at the stadium, the Dynamo invited me to stick around for their match against some familiar faces, the San Jose Earthquakes. I really enjoyed my time in Houston, and I’d love to come back again on a trip that’s not just for work.

EARTHQUAKES

Didn’t think I’d be back in San Jose in 2025—especially since I hadn’t set foot there in about 20 years. Last time I was around, I was visiting an old college buddy. This time, I was behind the lens for the Earthquakes vs. Houston Dynamo match. I brought my 105mm and really pushed it to its limits. Couldn’t get much action downfield, but when you’re posted up near the nets, the game eventually comes to you.

PARIS

Just brought my camera and let Paris do the rest. I returned in late April and challenged myself to shoot exclusively with an 85mm lens. It turned out to be a great choice—I loved the way it framed the city, and my back definitely appreciated traveling light with just one lens.

De-LA-yed

Just wrapped up the Acura Grand Prix shoot—three days of fast cars, and standing in the sun. The adrenaline’s still wearing off. I was supposed to head out right after, but Delta had other plans.

Instead of sitting in the airport for 5 hours, I made a quick detour to Redondo Beach. Breathed in some salty air, and watched the waves roll in. Sometimes the best way to unwind after a hectic shoot is to stand by the water and let time drift by. Not a bad way to wrap the weekend.

AGPLB DAY 3

Wrapped up an amazing 50th anniversary weekend at the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach. Huge congrats to Kyle Kirkwood for taking the win in style, wheeling the No. 27 PreFab Honda for Andretti Global to the top spot. Also happy 50th to AGPLB, I’m still looking for that cake!

AGPLB DAY 2

Day 2 at the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach was another packed day. Stadium Super Trucks were flying, Formula D Super Drift covered me in tire dust, and the IMSA SportsCar Grand Prix brought the heat. Nonstop action, wild energy, and thousands of photos to sort through.

AGPLB DAY 1

Flying out to shoot the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach again this year. The GP is celebrating it’s 50th year, and it has been a thrill—perfect weather, the city buzzing with energy, and the deafening sound of engines echoing through the streets. It’s impossible to take a bad photo in the pits, and I’m still filling up memory cards trying to nail the perfect panning shot.

Red Rock

Took my camera out for a hike in Red Rock, just taking in the wide-open views and rugged desert terrain. Every vantage point felt like it had a perfect shot—towering cliffs, winding trails, and that golden light bouncing off the rocks. Just watch out for the horse crap.

Matt Faulk

Spent two wild nights capturing Matt Faulk’s DJ sets at LIV and Substance in Vegas—nonstop energy, killer beats, and lights that made every shot pop. The crowd was vibing, drinks flowing, and the music hit just right. Loud, electric, and a damn good time.

Valley of Fire

Spent the day exploring Valley of Fire. Shots of fiery red rocks and endless desert views. The light was incredible—golden in the morning, deep shadows in the afternoon. I stood among towering formations, taking in the intricate details eroded into the stone. Hot, dusty, and absolutely worth it.
